I - What does this policy cover?
1.2 We process personal data in accordance with the legislation in force, and, in particular, Regulation 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data (hereinafter the “GDPR”). Where the processing takes place in the context of electronic communications, such processing is done in accordance with the Belgian local regulations transposing the relevant provisions of Directive 2002/58/EC concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector.
1.3 “Personal Data” is any data relating to an identified or identifiable individual (the ‘data subject’).
II. Information about Us
2.1 The European Cable Communications Association, AISBL, shortened as “Cable Europe” or “CTAM Europe” is an international association of operators of cable services.
2.2. The “Association” connects leading broadband cable TV operators and their national associations throughout the EU. We represent their views as we work with policymakers at EU and international levels. We also provide marketing, learning, sharing of best practices and networking via events, workshops and webinars for the European cable industry.
2.3 The European Cable Communications Association’s seat is established in 41, Avenue des Arts, 1040 Brussels, Belgium.
III. Your Rights
3.1 As a data subject, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation which this Policy and our use of personal data have been designed to uphold:

IV. What data we process, for what and for how long?
4.1 Cable Europe/CTAM Europe collects personal data relating to membership status, which may include ID and job details, including contact details and invoicing information.
4.2 We primarily use these data to represent our members’ interests, to keep them informed of our activities and events and to organise such activities and events.
4.3 We also process personal data (namely ID and contact details) of EU civil servants, members of the European parliament and external contacts whom we contact occasionally in the pursuit of our activities. These data have been either obtained directly from the data subject or are available from public sources.
- 4 Direct Marketing
4.4. 1 In a limited number of cases, Cable Europe/CTAM Europe and our partners use personal data for direct marketing purposes and sponsoring asks (our annual flagship event Cable Congress and educational programmes).
4.4.2 You have the right to object to such use at any time and free of charge by unsubscribing from our communications via the means provided in the communications we send or by contacting us using the means indicated in section IX below.
4.5 We will generally keep personal information no longer than is needed for us to carry out the activities described in section 2.2. For example, we will keep personal information held as part of our membership records for the duration of the membership. At the end of the membership, we will only retain the minimum information necessary to deal with any future issues. We also limit the amount of personal data stored to what is necessary to carry out our activities.
V. Legal basis
5.1 In the context of our internal and external communications, we consider that the use of your personal data is done on the basis of Cable Europe/CTAM Europe’s legitimate interests to pursue our activities (policy positioning, promotion of the cable sector…) on behalf of our members and/or to promote their interests.
5.2 When we process your personal information for our legitimate interests, we will have considered and balanced any potential impact on you and your rights under data protection. We do not use your personal data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you. You may obtain more information on our ‘balancing test’ by contacting us using the means indicated under IX below.
5.2 Where we process personal data for direct marketing purposes (4.4 above), Cable Europe/CTAM Europe does so on the basis of a previous business relationship with you or because you have given us your consent.
VI. Website/Cookies policy
6.1 On our website, we may collect data directly from you. You may provide us with Personal Data when you fill in the contact online form, when signing in to your account (Members Area), where appropriate, or when using the email addresses mentioned on our websites.

We use Google Analytics cookies to collect information about the use of our website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. 6.4 Social widgets
Our website has buttons that link to Twitter and YouTube. The providers of these third-party social widgets may set cookies to collect information regarding our website users and their interactions with the social widgets. VII. How we disclose your personal data?
7.1.1. Registration information as a member may be disclosed by the Association to other members and third parties in the context of Cable Europe’s/CTAM’s activities and events (e.g., during a conference or a meeting).
7.1.2 Currently, and where relevant, we share your Personal Data with the following business partners and exclusively for the following purposes:
- KNect365 ( https://tmt.knect365.com)to deliver our annual flagship event: Cable Congress.
- Amethyst Events (http://www.amethystevents.com/) to inform Cable Europe/CTAM Europe members (through newsletters) and to market events for the cable industry.
7.1.3 We also use third-party software tools, namely, Mail Chimp and SalesForce. 7.1. 4 We may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law, in response to a court order, judicial or other government subpoena, warrant or request.
7.1. 5 We also reserve the right to disclose your Personal Data to defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations, to protect the security or integrity of our website, to protect our property or other legal rights.
7.1.6 Your Personal Data may be disclosed and otherwise communicated to an acquirer, successor, or assignee as part of any merger, acquisition or similar transaction, or in the event of insolvency or bankruptcy in which Personal Data is transferred to one or more third parties.
