Brussels, 25th April 2018: “Today the European Institutions came together for discussions on the Electronic Communications Code, with the crucial access chapter on the agenda.  We understand that these trilogue negotiations reached no definitive conclusion in this area, and that all parties agreed upon the need for further examination of the detail.

“Cable Europe welcomes the Institutions’ clear acknowledgement of the need to get this pivotal piece of legislation right. The most important goal of this overhaul was to stimulate the necessary investments in high speed broadband to ensure Europe’s digital future.  The consequences of missing this target are too great to fall victim to artificial time pressure or political expediency.

“We are ready to support the ongoing dialogue, and to look forward to a roadmap which will encourage the necessary investments in Europe’s connected future.”
