(Brussels, 22 April 2015)  Cable Europe has today outlined its position on a number of policy areas central to its role in the European Commission’s upcoming work on the Digital Single Market Strategy.

Addressing a Think Digital event organised by ETNO in Brussels this morning on the future of Europe’s digital policies, Caroline van Weede, Managing Director of Cable Europe, described the cable industry as focussed on three overarching principles: a technology neutral approach, the portability of content, and the encouragement of industry investment in broadband – the enabler of Europe’s digital future.

Said van Weede: “The cable industry welcomes the European Commission’s determination to build a robust and competitive digital future for Europe’s businesses and citizens.  Broadband operators are the enablers in turning this vision into reality.  As more detailed thinking is published over the coming months, we will be working closely with legislators and policy makers to ensure that proportionate and future-proof solutions are found which will stimulate innovation and investment in the European market.”
