Cable Europe announces today that Paulo Valente is assuming the role of Technology Director effective immediately.
“It is with great pleasure that we announce today the arrival of a new hire for Cable Europe. Paulo comes to us as a 15 year veteran of the cable industry to help Cable Europe focus on the key technology issues central to cable’s interests, including our work on standards,” said Cable Europe Chairman, Matthias Kurth. “Paulo is as excited as we are about the move to help us focus on technology and innovation which are so central to the European consumer experience. The opportunity to have Paulo with us means that organizations such as the European Commission, ETSI, CENELEC, DVB Forum and others will have a resident representative open for dialogue on the different issues which represent opportunities for progress on wider European connectivity.”
Paulo Valente commented, “Joining the team at Cable Europe is a great honour. I look forward to working with the most resilient companies in the ICT sector. As a technology-driven industry, we will be focusing on harmonizing evolutionary technology paths in tandem with future regulatory decisions.”
This strategic hire comes following an announcement this summer on the enhanced cooperation between Cable Europe and technically-focused CableLabs which will guarantee that technical development and progress is linked to the special environment of the regulatory and policy discussion in Europe. The new relationship will serve as bridge between our organizations and we are poised for win-win cooperation between Cable Europe and CableLabs which will ultimately benefit the sector as a whole.
